Grossman Heinz – Lead Organizer

Grossman Heinz is hiring a Lead Organizer to work with us on advocacy projects in Connecticut. The Lead Organizer will play an essential role in engaging directly with local leaders and residents in Fairfield County to take action on advocacy initiatives. Responsibilities will include staff training and management, ensuring that all short and long term goals are met, and working with campaign leadership to evaluate and adjust the program on an ongoing basis.

This is a full-time temporary position. Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience. We are looking for individuals who can start immediately.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively to execute a strategy to engage and mobilize residents and local leaders. With campaign leadership, strategize on innovate ways to grow and activate support base
  • Manage, motivate, and provide ongoing training for a team of Community Outreach Associates to reach all campaign objectives
  • Research local organizing opportunities
  • Meet with local stakeholders to communicate campaign objectives and activate them
  • Organize community events to recruit and activate supporters
  • Make calls and canvass residents to persuade them to take action on advocacy initiative
  • Represent the campaigns with professionalism and ethical conduct
  • Support the collection and input of all data
  • Complete daily and weekly reports on progress to goal for all metrics.
  • Train Community Outreach Associates on VAN. Work with team to maintain VAN and ensure accuracy and timeliness of all data
  • Work with leadership to refine program tactics and adjust methods as needed
  • Successfully complete required training

Qualifications

  • At least 2 cycles of experience working on political or issue-based campaigns
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends
  • Very strong leadership qualities and experience managing staff
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work in a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, and communication skills are necessary
  • Ability to learn quickly 
  • Metrics-driven approach to planning, evaluating, and reporting on work
  • Experience coordinating logistics for events is a plus
  • Familiarity with VAN
  • Must have car and valid driver’s license
  • Experience working in diverse communities
  • Experience in CT, specifically Fairfield County, is preferred
