Grossman Heinz – Deputy Campaign Manager


Grossman Heinz is hiring a Deputy Campaign Manager to work with us on an advocacy campaign in Connecticut. The Deputy Campaign Manager will play an essential role in engaging directly with local leaders and residents to take action on advocacy initiatives. Responsibilities will include staff training and management, ensuring that all short and long term goals are met, and working with campaign leadership to evaluate and adjust the program on an ongoing basis.

This position is based in Bridgeport, CT with regular travel throughout the state. Pay is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively to execute a strategy to engage and mobilize residents and local leaders. With campaign leadership, strategize on innovate ways to grow and activate support base
  • Manage, motivate, and provide ongoing training for a team that includes full-time and part-time staff to reach all campaign objectives
  • Research local organizing opportunities
  • Meet with local stakeholders to communicate campaign objectives and activate them
  • Organize community events to recruit and activate supporters
  • Make calls and canvass residents to persuade them to take action on advocacy initiative
  • Represent the campaigns with professionalism and ethical conduct
  • Support the collection and input of all data
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all data entry
  • Complete daily and weekly reports on progress to goal for all metrics.
  • Work with leadership to refine program tactics and adjust methods as needed
  • Serve as a presenter and spokesperson for the campaign at community meetings and events
  • Successfully complete required training


  • At least 2 cycles of experience working on political or issue-based campaigns
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends are a must
  • Very strong leadership qualities and experience managing staff
  • Experience creating and managing phone and door-to-door canvass programs
  • Proven ability to be flexible and work in a fast-moving environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, and communication skills are necessary
  • Ability to learn quickly 
  • Metrics-driven approach to planning, evaluating, and reporting on work
  • Experience coordinating logistics for events is a plus
  • Strong proficiency in VAN
  • Must have car and valid driver’s license
  • Experience working in diverse communities
  • Experience working in Connecticut is preferred but not required
